Got lucky with a deal for a FirstSpear Strandhogg. The previous carrier I used was a Shellback Tactical Banshee, but I found the shoulder strap design to be detrimental with my style of shooting. Using the Strandhogg fixed that problem and it also feels very comfortable. To honestly describe the Strandhogg, I see it as a Banshee on steroids.

The way my 2nd line is set-up corresponds to my 1st line.

The vest carries the main essentials such as water, ammo, and a little room for storage. Since taking this picture I've added an admin and another HSGI TACO. On the back is an Emdom Vehicle Hydration pack.

The belt supplements what I'd rather not carry on my upper body.

- HSGI double stack TACOs

- BAE dump pouch (USMC issue)

- Dark Angel Medical IFAK

- TAG GP pouch

- Safariland 6004 mounted on a MLS Fork

- HSGI pistol TACO

Before using the FirstSpear Strandhogg, I used an Eagle Industries SPC. The SPC was my favorite to use since it's a good balance between fully armored and HSLD. Here are several pics from two difference games.

This was the only good shot I could take this past weekend at OP: BlackShield with my camera. About halfway through the day it started raining, not the best conditions for in-game photography. I'm sure more OP: BlackShield photos will pop-up and I'll post credited pictures if there are any.

Using this vest was a dream. Even full loaded with water, mags, and armor, the Strandhogg was very breathable and comfortable to wear. The padding was placed in the right places and the flexible nature of the design helped manage weight distribution in any fighting stance. If you can find a good deal for a FirstSpear vest or afford it, I highly recommend it.

Some of the realsteel courses I take require drills in the prone position. As such I stopped running double stacks on the front of my PCs. It's too difficult to get a good lowpro cheekweld with double stacked mags on your belly. I still like to use the Eagle Ind double M4 pouches as M4 singles and as an AK singles pouch. In fact I plan on replacing two or all of the TACOs on my Strandhogg with flapped Eagle Ind M4 pouches. My main emergency source of ammo is on my belt anyway. This weekend I'm going to put up pictures of my Banshee with the setup I'd like to transition onto my Strandhogg.

I still like to switch between my Banshee and Strandhogg. I'll also try to post pictures of the Banshee mod I made to help with the shouldering problem encountered with the Banshee.

I was very lucky to pick up an almost BNIB Strandhogg for $350 shipped. The previous owner quit airsoft, so I jumped on all of his gear.

My Banshee as I've run it for the past year before I settled for my FirstSpear Strandhogg. Overall the vest fully loaded weighs about 40lbs or so with mags, water, and armor. I still use it from time-to-time. The shoulder strap mod I made helps the vest perform a lot better than the factory buckles on the straps.

This is a mod I did to my Banshee to fix the shouldering problems I encountered with the factory buckles. It was easier and more comfortable to shoulder a rifle with the shoulder straps being as low profile as possible. To accomplish this I cut off the plastic buckles and replaced them with ITW G-hooks. The G-hooks are stamped steel making them the lowest profile hardware available. Adding Banshee shoulder pads, the whole vest feels more comfortable, stable, and practical.

Picture of a teammate and I at a local indoor field we like. I was testing out the latest Banshee set-up and helmet setup I just procured. The Banshee with the mods worked seamlessly with my rifle stock. The helmet was a new experience, I cannot begin to imagine how soldiers feel after wearing an ACH for 12+ hrs in blazing heat. Just wearing mine indoors for 4hrs, I looked like I got out of the shower. In any case, I apologize for the photos, my friend taking them clearly isn't a photographer.

Some shots of my Banshee loadout from a weekend pick-up game with my teammates. Good times for all and continued positive reviews for the mod I made to my Banshee.

I actually have my thumb in-line with the bore in this shot. I use LaRue index clips as a thumb rest. It's the setup I use on my realsteel AK and I can drive the AK pretty flat.

Here's the same setup I have on my Airsoft AK, this is the set up seen on my realsteel AK.

For holding it that way I would suggest that new gas pedal grip that came out recently. Also whats the brand on those pants? They look to good to be Emersons or TMC, and the real sand colored Crye's are pretty rare I think.

I've seen the Gas Pedal before, but the biggest turn off is the presence of a bolt. If you've shot an AK with a metal handguards, anything metal touching it gets scalding hot quick. An unintended pro with the LaRue Handstop is the polymer won't transfer heat. It's doable for me to shot my realsteel AK with the same setup without gloves.

As for the pants, they are genuine Crye Precision Gen 2 Combat AC pants. I've been using them for two years straight and I haven't looked back. I didn't realize that these we're so rare. What's the going rate on them now if you know?
