Sniper or Long Range AEG

Recommended Posts

Hey I was wanting to get for my next weapon a long range weapon that can shoot at least 200ft for mostly target shooting only. I don't want to go all in (money wise) with this weapon. I just want I nice long range gun out of the box with not much upgrades needed.

AEG: http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=16043

Sniper: http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/TSD-SD97-Spr...ack-p/64907.htm

If you have other weapon suggestions please feel free to reply.

I would like quick feedback.

Thanks

Then don't bother with DMR/Sniper rifles.

He's only asking for 200 feet (60m). Some stock guns will do just that.

I was thinking about getting the sniper in the link and as far as upgrade get a high quality hop up and a tight bore barrel but probably not a spring since I read reviews that it is shooting upwards of 550-570fps. What would be my range if I did that?

True but there's no point for a DMR/Sniper rifle at that point...

Just grab a field rifle which can outgun DMR/Sniper rifle (Full vs Semi)

Hey sorry I was kinda unclear at the top so I revised my topic but I am kinda wanting a long range weapon for pretty much target shooting only. I might use it a little bit in a battle but this will be mainly used for practices since I live in the suburbs and can't fire anything real steel. Sorry for the miscommunication.

Distance:

200' is a tame goal.

Most stock AEG's and Sniper Rifles can hit that distance all day long.

I suggest aiming for 300'accuracy as the benchmark for where to begin.

DMR / Sniper Rifle:

I suggest an AEG over a Sniper Rifle.

- Larger Mag Capacity.

- Endless options for parts and availability of parts.

- Not all Sniper Rifle models Hop-ups accommodate R-hop and ER-hop.

This may be true for some AEG brand Hop-up's as well, but more prevalent with Sniper Rifles.

- You can convert your DMR AEG back to a Full-Auto field rifle.

Pretty sure all of the popular systems can.......

APS

APS-2

Tanaka M700s

VSR

Even ARES bolties can.....

What are the chances that he'd pick up something that's completely off-spec?

Even Asahi M40 can use be ER-Hop'd.....

So should I just get a base sniper and just upgrade it from there with a better hop up, barrel (tight bore), spring, spring guide, trigger, piston, and cylinder?

^^^^^^^Do you have the money to do that....?

A complete properly upgraded bolt action rifle isn't cheap.....it costs at LEAST $500 just in upgrades, and that's the lower estimate......

Trigger

Hop Chamber

TBB/ER-hop

Complete Cylinder set

Brands to look for

PDI & Laylax, unless you have access to other Japanese brands such as Kuramae.

I have the money but It doesn't have to be a perfect sniper I just want it to consistent and accurate to at least 250'. Like I said I am not really going to be using this much, just for mostly practice shooting.

You can make a stock BAR-10 do that for relatively little money...range and accuracy come from tweaking and tuning and mostly free mods...not just dumping stonger parts and stronger spring in.

At the cheapest and torso accurate at that range:

-VSR-10 clone (BAR-10 is ok) -$110

-M130-150 spring -$12

-SHS steel trigger sear -$8

-A+/Maple Leaf VSR hop or get an R-hop -$10

-decent tightbore (personally Vanaras 6.03 worked for me) -$30

-TDC, airseal, tapered cylinder head w/ cushion , barrel spacers, cut air brake mod -$ materials and your labor

Should I do that or get a dmr like the one in the link? And I like the L96 body style more than the VSR-10, would it be much different If I got a l96 base?
