Which gun should I get?

Recommended Posts

I need some advice on what airsoft AEG to purchase. I'm a Newbie so bear with me.

Model Preference: M4 Carbine

Budget: 300$ max

Where you play: Small Fields, most targets will be within 75 - 150 feet (occasionally up to 200).

I've been looking at M4s, like these:

http://www.evike.com/products/36986/ - I like this one and was thinking about upgrading the spring and body.

Any alternative suggestions to these would be great, especially if they also have flip up sights.

I also have a few questions.

1. What would be a good FPS for the range I specified above?

2. Should the body of your AEG be metal? Is there a huge difference in durability between plastic and metal bodies?

3. If yes (to the above), would it be better to buy an AEG with a plastic receiver then buy a metal receiver to replace it?

Thanks for the help!

If you want to play at fields, it should be below 400 fps

As far as feel goes, yes. Metal bodies are definetly more durable, but as long as you take care of your plastic body, it will be fine

It depends on if you like the feel of metal, don't mind the weight gain, and think your gun may be dropped a few times.

Thanks for the help!

Honestly, full metal isn't all its cracked up to be. Between the guns, I'd choose the ics cxp, mainly for the gun style and ris. I'm not sure about sportline, but my ICS proline has good out of the box performance. Note that ICS isn't 100% TM spec

My friend uses an ICS, the gun isn't too bad but it had a few problems out of the box I had to help with, just stuff out of alignment though. Also it is proprietary so if something DOES break, you have to get the proprietary parts.

JG is a good gun, but why upgrade the spring? FPS isn't everything, the stock spring will be fine in it.

Don't know a thing about KA other than some people on here like them a lot.

ON TO THE QUESTIONS! Numero Uno Most fields have a limit for AEGS, it varies from like 400-420 FPS, so keep it under that, and like I said before FPS doesn't determine anything except how fast the BB gets to the target. If you were to upgrade anything, it should be the battery, barrel, hop-up and bucking.

Since that is all the Spanish I know, number two! Honestly metal bodies aren't ALWAYS more durable, some sucketh. I put metal bodies on guns just because I think if it's metal in reality, I am going to make the bugger metal.

Three, it depends. There are a lot of metal bodies out there, if you are to buy the JG with a plastic body you could use it at first, then when you get bored look through metal bodies and can find the one you like(there are Zombie Killer, Navy SEAL if you are a fanboy, etc.).
