4 possible choices for a first gun...what do ya think?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm just getting into airsoft an I've tried to do as much reading as possible beforehand to narrow down a few possible choices for a first gun. Like with any sport, you can't trust every opinion on any one particular choice. I would like to, however, get some feed back about these couple rifles listed below. Specifically, I would like to know if any of them have non-standard internals that will be hard to get parts for or upgrade as they wear out. Also, which of the 4 do you think have the best reliability?

Lastly, is there a cheaper place to shop online than the one I listed?

Thanks in advance for your constructive comments.

Erick

Don't mean to keep adding to this post, but I also just found this new G&G Top Tech T4-18 DST for around $200 delivered. I can't seem to find them anywhere else because this model seems to be discontinued. I've seen that the original price on these was around $400. Is this a steal or were they discontinued because they have problems? If it's a solid gun, would it be a better choice than any of the 4 I chose above?

For future reference, you can edit your post at almost any time, so you do not have to make multiple posts in one thread repeatedly.

I'd also have to recommend the Lonex one. As for price, Airsplat has the Lancer Tactical version of the same gun on sale at $127, but the long barreled ones are sold out. So, if you don't mind the 10.5 inch barrel, it's an option.

Don't know if it's actually better, but Lancer Tactical claims they got some of the issues the BO Dynamics version had with a slightly brittle upper receiver back near its rear pin. Reviewer over at AirsoftSociety had 2 uppers crack on him, the one the gun came with and the replacement Lonex supplied, and he contacted LT about it, but never actually reviewed their version.

I would go with 4th, the king arms one..

just because it gives you a FULL METAL body comparing to the other ones.

G&G top tech is good, but I don't have first hand exp

I personally own a king arms full metal m4 that I just worked on(not this limited edition), and the internals are fairly high grade.(I think they are probably identical)

it also includes a upgrade piece on the sector gear (I don't know the name)

the inner-barrel is a thick brass barrel that I think it's a 6.04

although you might need to buy a RIS rail and a PEQ box for that front wired gun if you want to put stuff onto it...

Don't just Assume Full Metal is a good thing. A good polymer body will trump a crappy pot metal body any day.

King Arms has pretty decent body, the best is probably G&P and VFC (mostly VFC), but that's out of OP's price range...if anything I strongly recommend OP to get G&P or VFC, it's super cheap in USA comparing to where I buy stuff in Canada...(we are paying 100-300 more for those good brands)

CYMA/ D-Boy is the one that has mostly heavy crappy pot metal (I had one of their mp5 before, holy :pain: that was heavy)

G&G cm16's body is okay..mine didn't break after alot of uses.

KWA is good, but that metal upper and plastic lower just seems...odd..

also I heard ICS has non standard parts

never had lonex but personally I don't recommend EBBs because more moving parts (maybe extra wear?)

let's just say this: M4s most of them should have standard parts for replacement.

I know KWA gas guns mostly have non-standard parts, not sure about their AEGs (should be the same stuff)

all of my AEGs lasted well over 2+ years without repair, and mostly never upgraded..

only had to repair the King arms M4 because some idiot opened the gearbox and put the anti-reversal latch backwards to the semi won't work..
