Question on restoring an M97 bayonet(I have no real steel forum account)

Recommended Posts

So I wish there was a real steel section that wasn't locked for me, but I have an old M97 bayonet(I believe that's what it is) and I thought it'd be cool to kinda shine it up and maaybeee put some new grips on it. I have a neighbor who would probably have all the tools I'd need and I'm not an idiot tools-wise, so I could make some new wood grips without too much problem.

Here's a picture of one(not mine):

So do any of you firearms enthusiasts think this would be a good idea? I think it'd be a fun project.
