Looking for honest insight and suggestions!

Recommended Posts

Howdy folks!

Been quite a while since I posted here, a year or two ago when I ALMOST took a plunge into airsoft.

Long story short, there wasn't enough commitment from those who expressed interest, so I ended up sitting on my KJW KP07 and let it collect dust.

Fast forwarding a bit brings us to today and this thread.

This time I'm going balls-out (within reason), which requires helpful insight, advice and knowledge from those who have been in airsoft for quite some time (Guges, I'm looking at you bud, you were extremely helpful and patient with me on our first encounter :D)

So, I've currently got a cart loaded up on evike.com

Which brings me to my first question, because I hear and read loads of rumors about evike lowering the quality on new boxed guns.

Which site is truly more reliable? Evike? AirsoftGI? Or maybe one I haven't heard of yet?

I'm trying to obtain a moderately decent loadout, my current budget is 500$, but I'd like to keep it under or at that. This budget isn't just for an AEG, it's also for protective equipment/bb's/accessories/etc.

I originally had my sights set on the H&K Licensed Competition Series UMP but I wasn't completely sold on it.

I've been reading reviews, item descriptions, specs, watching videos; trying to figure out whether or not these things are as good or bad as people make them out to be in reviews and videos.

I almost had myself convinced on buying the UMP, until the ASG Licensed Steyr AUG A3 XS Commando caught my eye, and currently holds a hopeful and excited spot in my heart.

Has anyone owned or currently owns this AEG and can provide an in-depth and comprehensive list of pros/cons and the in-betweens?

I've been doing extensive research among the web, and cannot find anything red-flag worthy.

The only gripes I've seen are that the foregrip can loosen and the hi-cap mag it comes with is poop. The mag isn't really an issue for me, since I had planned on grabbing several MAG Mid-Cap no-wind 170rd magazines.

I'm not a fan of the M4 platform, I want something unique, as well as ambidextrous. I love the magazine placement of the AUG. I also like the designs of things like the MP5, ACWR, Masada, UMP, etc. Just in case someone wants to make a suggestion or post not focused on the aforementioned AEG.

I have amblyopia in my right-eye, which basically means the muscle in that eye is weak, which in turn means the eye won't focus with the other. As a result, I have very poor vision in my right eye, so while being right-handed yet left-eye dominant, I feel comfortable holding a gun against my left shoulder, left hand on the trigger. Unless I'm using a pistol, which feels more comfortable in my right hand even though I am aiming with my left eye...

It's weird, but I have to adjust and use what I have xD!

Sorry for the lengthy post, just trying to provide a fair amount of information to up my chances of well-received feedback!

Cheers! ^.^

I am here to serve...show me links.

Yes...Evike lowers brand quality and abuses the legacy quality history of some items. Like this for example. One is budget, one is Asia spec. Guess which on is found in Evike products.

Well, for starters, I forgot to mention a few things.

1. I'll be primarily playing outdoors.

2.While I have my own personal preference on what I find aesthetically pleasing to the eye, at the end of the day I'm willing to forego such things if it means more OOtB reliability and quality.

3. I'm not the slightest bit interested in a "bullet hose" or a ridiculous rate of fire. That being said, I do want the option of full auto, I just don't need a super high rof.

4. I am by no means a tech-savvy person, so asides from basic routine cleaning, I have no knowledge of the internals of an airsoft gun, so I want to avoid the need to upgrade, at least for a couple years.

The AUG is what I currently have my eye on.

If I had to pick a M4 platform, that G&G is lovely to look at, but the reviews make me skeptical and wary.

The Krytac is just there because I feel I may have to go with that kind of a price to get what I am aiming for, which is above average reliability and quality out of the box.

Asides from quality and reliability, I want something with above average range and accuracy.

I'd like to avoid dumping 400$+ into just a gun itself..

What site(s) do you recommend buying from?

There is an airsoft shop about two hours away from me, not sure if they get their products straight from manufacturers or not. Will look into it.
